The boat in the middle of the picture is the White Heather. There was a colour postcard available for many years of her being relaunched in the 1960s. It will appear here in the colour gallery soon.

Note the line of telephone poles along the north side of the green and the wooden pens on the north side of the fank. The loch on the north side of the road is also clear of weed. Now it is almost completely overgrown.

Until the 1960s lamb sales were held at Badentarbet fank every year. This picture dates from the 1950s. Badentarbet Lodge is visible in the background. The picture below although from a totally unconnected source, appears to have been taken on the same day as many of the same people can be seen in both.

index There is the top of a small tree just visible against the leanto of the house in the foreground of the picture. Many people will remember it overhanging the road in recent years but it was blown over in a storm in January 2005 after standing for over 80 years.

Reiff with Isle Ristol in the background. Note the thatched roof on the house and outbuilding below the road ( The Haven ).

The Summer Isles Hotel above and below was called The Achiltibuie Hotel when these photos were taken. The picture below is the earlier of the two.
